I personally have found little evidence that astrology can predict personal events believing any success in those area are down to the person rather then the tool they use. The effect that cosmic alignments have is a different area and I believe that these can influence events at a given point in time. The effects however I believe can best be explained through physics. One point I would like to make is that where alignments may appear to repeat, each one is in itself unique to that moment in time. The effects caused by those alignments however can and do ripple through time. Where we can see a pattern such as planetary alignments the events within and around those alignment make each one unique unto themselves therefore the effect they have will be different each time they occur making accurate prediction impossible. We may come close such as predicting solar eclipses, tidal events etc but beyond that there are to many variables. My personal experience has shown that the number of people claiming accurate results can be offset by those claiming inaccurate results

Cancer The Crab: Protective, sensitive, clinging,
tenacious, family and home oriented, helpful, nurturing, moody, watery,
emotional, crabby, loving.
Leo The Lion: Generous, proud, theatrical,
passionate, bossy, loves attention, dramatic, arrogant, independent, noble,
creative, leader, egotistic, sunny, bright, kingly, powerful.
Virgo The Virgin: Practical, efficient, critical,
work and service oriented, common sense, modest, health conscious, mentally
active, fussy, helpful, loving, flexible.
Libra The Scales: Co-operative, diplomatic, urbane,
fair, lazy, partnerships, refined, balance, grace, charm, debater, just,
open-minded, social, ideas.
Scorpio The Scorpion: Passionate, secretive,
powerful, keenly perceptive, deep, complex, analytical, inquisitive,
resourceful, evolutionary, magnetic, intense, hypnotic, perspicacious, creative,
vigorous, untameable, cunning, ambitious, aggressive, tyrannical, sadistic,
mysterious, transformation.
Sagittarius The Archer: Free, straightforward,
careless, tactless, philosophic, intellectual, fun-loving, arrogant,
adventurous, expansive, optimistic, blundering, believer, scattered.
Capricorn The Sea-goat: Prudent, cautious,
suspicious, ambitious, rigid, authoritative, cunning, competent, saturnine.
Aquarius The Water Carrier: Democratic,
unconventional, detached, friendships, humanitarian, cause-oriented, the group,
society, progressive, eccentric, elitist, sophisticated, objective.
Pisces The Fishes: Imaginative, sensitive,
distracted, feeling, duality, idealistic, spirituality, acceptance,
undiscriminating, soul growth, martyrdom, artistic, neglectful, surrender,
