There is a school of thought that believes grief can hold a person back. As far as spirit is concerned this is debatable and personally I think unlikely. For ourselves this is another matter it can and does when taken to the extreme. Everything depends on the how we are grieving. To remember someone with love or fondness in a way it makes you feel happy inside will not hold them or you back. It is not suggested we should forget they ever existed nor should it burden us if they become a faded memory. It only becomes a problem if it eats into your very soul affecting everyday life. A sense of grief is normal and for it to last for a period of time is to be expected. Only if we find that our grief has become an obsession should we worry.
