Respect is not some rule that is written down, which we all must follow. Nor will failure result in some heavy penance. It is a courtesy we voluntary extend to others. There is no justifiable reason for us not to and it is in my experience that the common causes behind it not being shown is a lack of communication skills or a failure of ones belief to answer the questions asked of it. The former is understandable and passes with time once that individual becomes comfortable with whom they are conversing. The latter is an attempt to cover up that which failed them. There can be many reasons from the loss of a love one to a desire to prove what they cannot. The sure sign is personal attacks on both person and their belief, which is not limited to any single person or belief. Some as in the case of losing a love one are understandable and more a cry for help. They are expressing their pain and need our understanding. Then are those who take great delight in destroying the happiness of others. How you deal with them must be your personal choice. Respect costs nothing and the simple act of showing it speaks a lot about the person we are.
