Spirituality is a state of "being", independent of any one religion or belief system therefore being religious does not grantee ones spiritual being nor does it follow that non religious people are denied spirituality. It is my personal experience that there are many none spiritual people within religion and just as many spiritual people outside of religion. Spirituality therefore can and does exist quite independently from any single source of teaching. One thing I have become sure of is that it is reached through ones personal efforts not those of another. It is in the "being" spirituality is achieved and not I or anyone else can teach you how. The very essence of spirituality is found by learning how to "be" through experience. To many man made rules have been put forward as the only true way and our very individuality seen as a threat to achieving spiritual enlightenment. Our individuality threatens only one thing and that is the control of those who seek to control us. We can spend many life times following the whims and fancies of those who proclaim to know the truth or we can learn from our experiences, see through our own eyes the path we are to follow. No two paths will ever be the same even if we journey in the same direction. There are no hard and fast rules, no quick and easy path. The choices are yours to make and yours to take, let another decide for you only sets you on a return path.
At first sight it may seem that I am anti religion, I am not. As with all things religion has its place and is there to be experienced and I have found many personal truths within religion but note I say religion rather then give any one belief credit. Religion is just mans thoughts on creation, these thoughts have been turned into beliefs. They all suffer from the same fault and that is mans need to be sanctimonious and this has caused division amongst them. They each fight to be top dog when in truth they each have part of the puzzle but none have the whole. To sum it up I have in most cases the greatest respect for most religions, the same cannot be said for some of their leaders or their actions. My path has taken me on a different route but I would not have reached that path had it not been for what came before therefore religion has played its part and an important part. I hope that no one feels that their belief has been disrespected by my views because that is all they are, "my views no more no less".
